The following Corporate and Continuing Education programs include hybrid, live online and in-person courses at Central Piedmont. We also offer on demand online classes through Ed2Go. Corporate and Continuing Education courses at Central Piedmont are skill-based and not offered for college credit, but in many cases continuing education units (CEUs) are awarded and courses may lead to industry-recognized credentials.

  • COS 7011 Natural Hair Care Specialist Teacher Training

    This course is designed to teach the licensed Natural Hair Care Specialist how to teach a Natural Hair Care Specialist class. The class consists of developing lesson plans, studying basic methods of teaching and learning, producing effective presentations, communicating confidently, and effective classroom management. The course also includes teaching proper health, safety, and infection control procedures according to the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners.

    This course requires permission to register. You must have a NC Natural Hair Care Specialist License.

  • COS 7012 Natural Hair Care Certification

    This course prepares students for the Natural Hair Care Braiding License Exam. This course covers beginner-level general sciences and practices specific to infection control, sanitation, bacteriology, first aid, shampooing, draping, anatomy, disorders of the hair and scalp, and client consultation. This course also covers advanced-level applications specific to styles and techniques of natural hair styling, including twisting, wrapping, extending, locking, blow drying and hot ironing; business management and professional ethics, and other related topics.

    If you are accepted, you must attend a mandatory new student orientation before you enroll. Failure to attend the orientation will forfeit your slot in the program. If accepted, you will also be required to provide a copy of your social security card and a government-issued identification card.

  • COS 7020 Cosmetology Instructor Certificate Part I

    This course introduces the basic cosmetology instructional concepts. Topics include orientation, theories of education, unit planning, daily lesson planning, laboratory management, student assessment, record keeping, and other related topics.

    This is a certificate-level course. You must hold a current North Carolina Cosmetology License.
