Free Income Tax Preparation Assistance

Take advantage of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) if you are a Central Piedmont student, faculty, or staff and earn $64,000 per year or less.

If eligible, you can get help with your taxes by either:

  • submitting your tax documents to a virtual intake center at Central Piedmont's Cato or Harper campuses
  • sitting down in person with a VITA trained tax preparer

Submit Your Tax Documents to a Virtual Intake Center at Cato or Harper Campus

You can bring your tax documents to a VITA virtual intake center at Central Piedmont, where the tax documents will be uploaded through a secure server then prepared by a trained VITA tax preparer.

In-Person Tax Preparation Appointments

  • Make an Appointment


    • Monday, 10 a.m.–noon and 1–7 p.m.
    • Tuesday, 8 a.m.–noon and 1–5 p.m.
    • Wednesday, 8 a.m.–noon and 1–5 p.m.
    • Thursday, 10 a.m.–noon and 1–5 p.m.
    • Friday, 9 a.m.–noon
    • Saturday, 9 a.m.–noon (walk-ins only)

    Make an in-person appointment at Central Campus

    Location: Central Campus, Overcash Building, Room 232 (next to Tate Hall).

  • Paperwork To Bring To Your Appointment

    • proof of identification (photo ID; you and your spouse must both be present to sign required authorization forms for joint returns)
    • social security card(s) or an individual taxpayer identification letter (ITIN) letter for you, your spouse, and any dependents
    • wages and earning statements (W2, W2-G, 1009-R,1099 Misc., etc.) from all employers
    • interest and dividend statements from banks (Form 1099)
    • copy of your last year's federal and state tax returns, if available
    • proof of bank account with routing and account numbers for direct deposit
    • total paid to daycare provider, including the daycare provider's name, address and tax identification information, such as a social security number or employer identification number (EIN)
