Bogotá, Colombia: “Baking & Pastry Cultural Experience in Colombia"

This immersive journey will offer you a unique opportunity to explore Colombian baking and pastry arts while delving into the vibrant local culture and traditions. Throughout the 8 day trip, you will engage in a variety of activities, including visits to local markets, culinary workshops with Colombian students, and tours of iconic landmarks such as the thermal baths near Bogotá and Monserrate Hill. Students will have the chance to learn about Colombian food production processes by visiting local companies like Castellana 104. Additionally, students will compare American and Colombian food products during a supermarket activity and explore the diverse culinary scene of Bogotá's neighborhoods. This adventure promises to be an enriching experience that combines education, cultural immersion, and gastronomic exploration.

Fall 2024 Cancellation and Refund Policy

If you need to cancel your participation in a Study Abroad program, you must notify the Center for Global Engagement promptly. Should you request a refund, please ensure this is done before June 20th.  

Before June 20, 2024: Requests for refunds due to cancellations will be carefully considered under the following guidelines. 

  • Individualized Consideration: Each request will be assessed on a case-by-case basis to accommodate unique situations.  
  • Program Specific: Refund policies, amounts, and timelines of reimbursement may vary by program. 

After June 20, 2024: Participants will no longer qualify for refunds beyond this date. Please take this policy into consideration before committing to and investing in a study abroad experience.

Estimated Cost of Program: $3,100

This cost is approximate and includes the $100 application fee due when you apply, $20 insurance fee, flights, and program costs.

Payment Deadlines are non-negotiable. Once you are accepted, you will receive instructions on how to submit these payments:

  • June 5:   $1,000 due
  • June 20: $900 due 
  • July 3:    $700 due
  • July 10:  $400 due

Please note: These payment deadlines are firm. No matter the day that you are accepted, you will owe all of the payment deadlines above at the assigned date. There are no exceptions. 

Other costs to consider that aren’t included in the program fee: 

   -passport and visa fees (if applicable)
   -Personal expenses (ex: meals in airports, snacks, souvenirs, etc.)
   -Central Piedmont course registration associated with the program

How to Apply

  • Complete the Application

    Complete the Application form.
    Make sure to take the time to thoughtfully complete the application.

  • Submit a video recording of yourself answering a few questions

    As a part of the application form you are asked to submit a video recording of yourself answering a few questions. Follow the instructions listed on the form for the questions and the correct way to submit your video.

  • Pay Application Fee

    Once your application is received, you will be sent the form to pay the nonrefundable $100 application fee.
    Your application will not be considered until both the application form is complete and the application fee is paid.
