Paramedic Academy Outcome Data
Paramedic Program Overview
On January 9, 2010, 29 students enrolled in the first community paramedic program to be offered in 10 years in Mecklenburg County. From that day forward, a partnership was established between Central Piedmont Community College and Carolinas Medical Center, Center for Prehospital Medicine (CPM). The Central Piedmont/CPM paramedic program is a five-semester course. Students are required to complete a total of 1,096 hours to successfully finish the program. Students who successfully complete the course are able to sit for the North Carolina Office of EMS paramedic exam and the National Registry paramedic exam. Students completing this class will be prepared to obtain employment, if they desire, in the field of Prehospital Emergency Medical Care.
