JCSU Connect Johnson C. Smith University Transfer Program

As a JCSU Connect student, you will be guaranteed admission to transfer to Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) in Charlotte to complete a bachelor’s degree after you complete your Central Piedmont associate degree.

Central Piedmont will launch the program in August 2021 with the start of the fall 2021 semester. The first cohort of students will transfer to Johnson C. Smith in fall 2023.

  • collaborative academic advising and career exploration

  • be considered for an $8,000 renewable scholarship for two years at Johnson C. Smith

  • in addition to the services you will receive at Central Piedmont, you'll be able to take advantage of the student services at Johnson C. Smith, such as the university’s libraries and other facilities, faculty, and advising

  • once you transfer to Johnson C. Smith from Central Piedmont, you will be placed in an on-campus paid internship at Johnson C. Smith that relates to your major

  • in your final year at Johnson C. Smith, you will get the opportunity to participate in another paid internship opportunity or in an academic research program

  • Transfer Seamlessly

    If you want to major in psychology at Johnson C. Smith, you will follow a detailed pathway that starts in your first term at Central Piedmont and seamlessly transfers the credit you earn to your bachelors degree. Additional pathways will be announced in upcoming semesters.

Eligibility Requirements

  • To Be Considered for the JCSU Connect Program

    To be eligible, you need to:

    • complete the JCSU Connect program interest form
    • complete an eligible program at Central Piedmont the semester immediately before the term you want to start at Johnson C. Smith (for example, if you want to start at Johnson C. Smith in the spring, you'd need to complete your Central Piedmont program in the fall)
    • maintain at least a 2.0 GPA while at Central Piedmont (required for admission to Johnson C. Smith)
    • enroll in a full course load each semester at Central Piedmont (registration policies)
    • stay in good standing (academic and otherwise) while at Central Piedmont
  • To Stay in the JCSU Connect Program

    To get the $8,000 renewable scholarship for two years at Johnson C. Smith, you'll need to:

    • stay in good academic standing at Central Piedmont
    • maintain at least a 3.0 GPA per semester while at Johnson C. Smith
    • attend two Career Services workshops each semester
    • take at least 15 credit hours per semester

How to Enroll in JCSU Connect

You can apply for fall or spring terms.

  • Apply to Central Piedmont

    Complete the steps to apply to Central Piedmont as a degree-seeking student. Let your academic advisor know you are interested in the JCSU Connect program.

  • Submit the JSCU Connect Interest Form

    Complete the JCSU Connect program interest form.

    Once you submit the form, admissions staff will email you your next steps.
