  • Durable Skills Mastery: Soft Skills

    Come join us for a fun and helpful virtual session where you’ll learn important people skills like how to talk with others, work in a team, handle change, and understand emotions—yours and others. These are skills that can help you succeed in school, at work, and in everyday life. No experience needed—just come as you are!

    Bring your résumé and get quick, helpful feedback from employers. Whether it’s your first résumé or you’re updating it, this is a great chance to ask questions and make it stronger in a relaxed, no-pressure setting.

    Come hear from former Central Piedmont students who have finished school and started their careers. They’ll share their real-life stories about how they got their first jobs, the challenges they faced, and what they’ve learned along the way. This in-person event is a great chance to ask questions and get honest advice from people who’ve been in your shoes.

    Handshake is Central Piedmont's online tool that connects you with job and internship opportunities. Take a deeper dive into Handshake with a platform expert! This virtual workshop will cover how to maximize your Handshake profile, search and apply for jobs and internships, use advanced features, and connect with employers and career services. Led by Nia Pipes, Relationship Manager for Handshake.

  • Durable Skills Mastery: Personal Branding Workshop

    Date: November 18
    Time: 2-3 p.m.
    Location: Virtual

    What you post online—on social media like Instagram, TikTok, or LinkedIn—can shape how others see you, including future employers. In this virtual workshop, you’ll learn why your online presence matters and how to make it work for you. We’ll talk about what’s okay to post (and what’s not), how to clean up your profiles, and how to use social media to show your strengths and interests in a positive way. This session is great for students who want to feel more confident about what they share online.

    Not sure how to talk to employers or what to say when networking? You’re not alone! Join us to hear from a panel of professionals who will share tips on how to make strong connections. Then, you’ll get to practice your networking skills in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Great for building confidence and making real connections that can help in your job search.

  • Durable Skills Mastery: Fail Forward

    Date: February 19
    Time: 2-3 p.m.

    Everyone makes mistakes or faces challenges—especially in school and life. This workshop will help you see that setbacks aren’t the end of the road, but a normal part of learning and growing. You’ll hear real stories, talk through your own experiences, and learn simple ways to handle stress, keep going when things get tough, and believe in yourself. Led by Kelly Herman.

  • Salary Negotiation

    Learn how to confidently talk about pay and benefits when you’re offered a job. We’ll walk you through how to know what you’re worth, what to say when talking about money, and how to ask for fair pay—without feeling awkward. This is important knowledge that can help you earn more over time.

    You’ve already learned a lot from school, jobs, and everyday life—even if you don’t realize it. In this hands-on session, you’ll figure out what those skills are and how they can help you in many kinds of jobs. You’ll also hear from working professionals who will share how they’ve used their own skills in different careers.

    Not sure what to do at a professional lunch or formal event? You’re not alone—and this is a great place to learn. Join us for a free lunch where you’ll get to practice things like starting conversations, using good table manners, and feeling more comfortable in professional settings. You’ll sit with other students and local professionals, so you can learn by doing and ask questions in a relaxed, friendly environment.
