The program offers courses through the James R. Worrell Sr. Financial Services Institute, located at the Harris Campus at Central Piedmont.

Corporate and Continuing Education courses at Central Piedmont are skill-based and not offered for college credit, but in many cases continuing education units (CEUs) are awarded and courses may lead to industry-recognized credentials.

  • MTG 8224 24-Hour NC SAFE Comprehensive Mortgage Origination Essentials (Webinar)

    This mortgage loan originator (MLO) prelicensing course is presented as a live webinar (classroom equivalent) format with two parts: 1) the 20-hour MLO national course plus 2) the 4-hour NC laws and regulations course, for a total of 24 hours. Both are approved by the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) to meet the North Carolina MLO pre-licensing education requirements. Attendees interact through presentation and the live streaming broadcast of the instructor.

    The 20-hour national part includes three hours of training on federal law, three hours on ethics/consumer protection, two hours of training on non-traditional mortgage products, and twelve hours of additional instruction on mortgage origination. The 20-hour course prepares you for the NMLS national MLO test taken at an approved testing center and is required for any state MLO license.The 4-hour course is required for a NC MLO license.

    100 percent attendance required. Textbook included in tuition.

Finance

  • FIN 7900 Local Government Finance

    This course is a basic overview of local government finance in North Carolina. It is not a debit and credit accounting course nor does it assume you have formal accounting education or experience. You will learn the basic job functions that are typically housed in the finance department, with attention to those found in smaller governments. This course will also link those functions to the requirements for all local governments found in the NC General Statutes, primarily the Local Government and Fiscal Control Act(G. S. 159 Article 3).

    Class is fully online. You will need access to a current version of Adobe Reader and Microsoft Excel. Central Piedmont Community College login required.

  • INX 7501 NC Property Insurance Agent (Pre-licensing) 

    This course is approved by the North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI) for individuals seeking a Property Insurance agent license, and recommended for those seeking an adjuster license. You will learn general terms and concepts associated with property insurance, personal and commercial insurance coverage, and North Carolina statutes and regulations. Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to sit for the state Property Insurance Agent Exam. If you are seeking an agent license, you must attend 100 percent of the classes. 

    Purchase the textbook prior to start of class. It may be used for both Property and Casualty.

  • INX 7502 NC Casualty Insurance Agent (Pre-licensing)  

    This course is required  for individuals seeking a Property Insurance Agent sales license and recommended for those seeking and Adjustor's license. Course content will cover general terms and concepts associated with property insurance, personal and commercial insurance coverage, and North Carolina statutes and regulations pertinent to property insurance. Upon successful completion (80 percent or higher), students will be eligible to sit for the state Property Insurance Agent Examination. If you are seeking an sales license, you must attend 100 percent of the classes. 

    We recommend that you take the Property class before taking the Casualty class.

  • INX 7503 NC Life Insurance Agent (Pre-licensing)   

    This course is approved by the North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI) for individuals seeking a Life Insurance agent license. You will learn general terms and concepts associated with life insurance, annuities, policy
    provisions, options and various features, and North Carolina statutes and regulations. Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to sit for the state Life Insurance Agent Exam. If you are seeking an agent license, you must attend 100 percent of the classes.

BUS 7116 Notary Public

  • BUS 7116 Notary Public I

    This required course is a full introduction to the statutes that regulate the acts of North Carolina notaries. The purpose is for applicants to become qualified candidates for the Notary Public commission. Successful candidates must meet a minimum 80 percent exam score. Important communication occurs by email prior to class meeting. Please provide a current email address at the time of registration. Registration closes two days before class starts.

    Current Notary Public Manual (2016) is required and must be purchased before attending class.

    Purchase and review textbook prior to start of class. A government photo ID and black pen are also required.

  • BUS 7117 Electronic Notary Certification

    You are required to have a valid commission as a notary public in NC in order to qualify for this electronic notary certification. This course instructs individuals in procedures required to exercise electronic notarial acts as set forth by the North Carolina Secretary of State. The course will cover the North Carolina Electronic Notary Act and electronic notary processes. Materials will be provided in class.

    Prerequisite: You must have a valid commission as a North Carolina Notary Public prior to participating in the Electronic Notary Certification Course.
