Student Insurance

Central Piedmont offers insurance policies for Student Accident, Health, and International Travel. 

Student Accident Insurance

Student Accident Insurance is available to students enrolled in specific, high risk classes and is required for specific classes. Students will be notified at time of registration if class requires Student Accident Insurance and the fee will be paid at that time.

  • Policy Coverage and Eligibility

    The 2017-2018 Student Accident Insurance plan is offered through Chubb (ACE American Insurance Company).  and is available to students enrolled in specific, high risk classes. The policy offers primary coverage if the student has no other accident or health insurance coverage. If other accident or health insurance coverage is in force, the policy becomes secondary. Coverage starts at the beginning of the term and stops at the end of the term.

    The plan insures students against loss resulting from accidental bodily injury sustained while participating in or attending specific classes. Student Accident Insurance is required for specific classes and is paid for at the time of registration. Students will be notified at time of registration if class requires Student Accident Insurance.

    The policy offers primary coverage if the student has no other accident or health insurance coverage.  If other accident or health insurance coverage is in force, the policy becomes secondary. Coverage starts at the beginning of the term and stops at the end of the term.

    Eligibility: Only students in specific classes are required to purchase Student Accident Insurance and the fee will be included in tuition. The persons eligible for coverage are all registered Students of the Policyholder for who premium has been paid.

    Coverage: The insurance plan provides coverage to students enrolled in specific, high risk classes and is primary to Medicaid and TriCare. Students are covered during classes and while attending school, sponsored and supervised activities other than intercollegiate sports.

  • How to Report an Accident/Injury

    In the event of an accident during class, please contact CPCC Security/Police Services (704) 330-6632 to report the injury.   If student wishes to seek medical attention, please do so.

    How to File a Claim:

    1.) Contact Central Piedmont Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) office at erm@cpcc.edu. Provide the incident date, student ID, and incident report number.

    2.) Once Student Accident Insurance has been verified, ERM will work with the student to complete the Student Accident Claim Form to initiate the claim process.

    3.) An claim adjuster from Chubb will work directly with the student. The student is responsible to provide documentation as requested (e.g. itemized bills which give information pertaining to the injury and treatment, a copy of any EOB showing payment (or denial) of each bill).

Student Health Insurance

Central Piedmont Community College has worked with Community College Student Insurance (CCSI) for more than 15 years in order to provide an affordable volunteer health insurance program for students and their families. CCSI is responsible for enrollment, eligibility verification, and premium collection for the plan. Central Piedmont Community College does not specifically endorse this plan or this provider. The Community College Student Insurance program is not endorsed by or affiliated with the State Board of Community Colleges nor the Community College System Office

    Central Piedmont Community College has worked with Community College Student Insurance (CCSI) for more than 15 years in order to provide an affordable volunteer health insurance program for students and their families.  CCSI is a subsidiary of Open Asset Management Co., a member of FINRA, and DBE, HUB Certified by the Department of Transportation and the State of North Carolina HUB Office. CCSI is responsible for enrollment, eligibility verification, and premium collection for the plan.

    Insurance Program

    ACA Open Enrollment for 2018 Health Insurance Marketplace is from November 1, 2017 to January 31, 2018. We will help you apply for premium tax credits if you are eligible.

    Short Term Medical

    Short term medical plan designed for individuals who do not currently have health insurance, are seeking alternative health insurance coverage for the short term or low deductible (co-pay) alternative plans.   • Contact Information

    The plan is a voluntary option for our students. Interested students should contact the provider directly to enroll or compare with other plans available. Please contact CCSI directly at 919.228.6474 or email admin@studentccsi.com.

International Travel Insurance (Study Abroad)

Enrollment is limited to CPCC Students. The coverage starts at the beginning of the trip and stops at the end of the trip. Off time travel not covered by policy (Sightseeing, etc.). Authorization, roster and waiver forms specific to Study Abroad opportunities at CPCC are located within the Global Learning department.
