Career Development Week

Career Development Week, hosted by Office of Mentoring and Coaching in conjunction with Career Services, will be held on November 14-16, 2023 during National Career Development Month.  These events are designed to help Central Piedmont students explore professional development topics and participate in events such as LinkedIn / Resume Development workshops, mock Interviews, employer panels and an employer meet-and-greet. 

We aim to have employers speak to current employment opportunities at their companies as well as discuss the employability skills necessary to be successful in this current job market.

  • Resume Development Workshop

    Employers will share with students the basic layout of an acceptable professional resume as well as provide insight on resumes from an employer perspective. They will discuss the do’s and don'ts of a resume as well as the key factors that catches the eye of an employer when reviewing resumes.

  • Securities Industry Essentials Certification Fundamentals

    During this interactive panel discussion, you will learn firsthand knowledge about the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam and why this is the first step in launching a successful career as an investments/wealth management professional. Learn from a range of industry professionals at Bank of America, Vanguard, and Wells Fargo as we share experiences and debunk myths around FINRA licensing and working in the securities industry. We will also share important information on how you can make the first step to enroll in the SIE prep course at Central Piedmont!

    Join us as we hear from employers from different industries. During the panel, employers will share a brief overview of their professional journey, discuss current industry challenges and opportunities as well as share the important skills, characteristics and qualities that they look for in individuals seeking employment at their company. After the 1 hour panel, employers and students will have the opportunity to speak with each other while enjoying some refreshments.
