As a 49erNext student, you will be guaranteed admission to UNC Charlotte to pursue a bachelor’s degree after you complete an eligible Central Piedmont associate degree.

Benefits

This unique program helps you succeed and finish your degree on time by offering coordinated financial aid planning, career advising, and collaborative advising. As a 49erNext student, you can also apply for the 49erNext scholarship.

In addition to the services you will receive at Central Piedmont, you will be able to take advantage of the following:

Eligibility Requirements

  • To be Considered for the 49erNext Program

    • Full-time college student
    • Have at least one year (or 24 credits) left to complete in an eligible associate degree
    • Plan to pursue a Central Piedmont Associate in Arts, Associate in Engineering, or Associate in Science degree
    • Plan to pursue a major offered at UNC Charlotte (except fine arts, architecture, nursing, or Engineering Technology)

    Talk to a transfer advisor at Central Piedmont if you wish to pursue an ineligible major to learn about other transfer pathways to UNC Charlotte.

    You may not enroll in both the UNC Charlotte Passport and the 49erNext Program.

  • To Remain in 49erNext Program

    • Participate in mandatory advising each semester while enrolled at Central Piedmont.
    • Remain in good academic standing in order to transfer to UNC Charlotte.
  • To Transfer to UNC Charlotte

    • Complete an eligible associate degree at Central Piedmont (Associate in Arts, Associate in Engineering, or Associate in Science).
    • Maintain at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale, as calculated by Central Piedmont).
    • Complete the UNC Charlotte admission application and send all required transcripts by set deadlines.
    • Participate in the Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) program before your first semester at UNC Charlotte.

    As a participant in the 49erNext program, you will be eligible to transfer into more than 75 undergraduate degree programs at UNC Charlotte (130+ majors). While completing the 49erNext program requirements guarantees that you will be admitted into UNC Charlotte, it does not guarantee that you will be admitted into specific, more selective degree programs. Some degree programs are competitive and may require a higher GPA and/or other admission requirements.

    Associate of Applied Science degrees are not transferable unless they are part of an approved bilateral agreement.

  • Enroll at Central Piedmont

    Complete the steps to enroll as a degree-seeking student at Central Piedmont. On the Central Piedmont CFNC application, you will need to check the box that you are interested in the 49erNext program.

  • Submit the 49erNext Application

    Completing the form does not guarantee you will be admitted into the 49erNext program. If admitted into the program, you will receive information on your next steps by email.
