Reverse Transfer
The Reverse Transfer Program is a partnership between the North Carolina Community College System and the UNC System that allows students to combine credits earned at Central Piedmont with those earned at their university to complete an associate degree.
Eligibility
- Students must have been previously enrolled in a degree program at Central Piedmont.
- Students must "opt-in" to the Reverse Transfer program at their current university. Only UNC System colleges participate in Reverse Transfer.
- Students must have completed/earned at least 25 percent of the program at Central Piedmont. This will be 15-16 college-level credit hours.
- Students who are not eligible for Reverse Transfer are notified by CFNC or the North Carolina Community College System.
Reverse Transfer Process
- After opting-in, the student's transcript is sent to Central Piedmont from their UNC System university twice a year (in approximately February and July). Processing can take 6-8 weeks.
- The Graduation Office will evaluate the transcripts to see if an associate degree can be awarded. The information may be sent to Central Piedmont multiple times for evaluation.
- Receiving an associate degree from Reverse Transfer depends on the classes completed at the university and the classes completed at Central Piedmont. The credits will be evaluated to see if the combined courses meet Central Piedmont and state graduation requirements. Records will only be evaluated for a transfer degree.
- If the student is found eligible for an associate degree, they will be certified as a graduate and the credential will appear on the official college transcript. Students will then receive an email to their university student email address, and Central Piedmont student email address, with instructions on how to order their degree/transcript.
