United Kingdom 2024: “Frankenstein and the Paranormal” Myth in Human Culture

This unique program combines traditional study abroad opportunities with an added focus on monsters and the paranormal. During the program, students will explore London, Bath, and Salisbury – visit areas where paranormal activities have been encountered, engage in historical research of the monster/haunting, and interview eyewitnesses and experts in local folklore. In London, students will visit locations such as The British Museum, Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, the Globe Theater as well as explore the London paranormal through a Jack the Ripper tour and visit to the College of Psychic Studies. As a part of the HUM 130 course, students will read Frankenstein and in Bath will spend time in Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein. The grand finale of the trip will be a sunrise visit to Stonehenge, the oldest monument in the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
