Study Abroad in Ecuador 2023: Spanish Immersion

Immerse yourself in the language and culture of Ecuador for two or three weeks! Quito is the capital of Ecuador and the ancient capital of the northern realm of the Incan Empire. Quito is a beautiful city with a climate described as “eternal spring.” While in Quito, you will live with local families, eat traditional meals, take daily Spanish classes, and volunteer in the community. You’ll also participate in several cultural activities including a dance lesson, cooking lesson, visit local markets and discover the Monument of the Middle of the World that divides the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. There will also be additional optional activities offered during the week. ¡Vamos a Quito!

Program Costs

The costs below are approximate and include the application and insurance fee paid to Central Piedmont. Once you are accepted into the program, the leader will provide you with additional information about how to submit payment. 

2 weeks - $3,310 (Price is slightly higher because additional excursions are included) 

3 weeks - $3,270

 

Included in Program Fee

  • Central Piedmont Community study abroad application fee
  • Round-trip airfare to Quito, Ecuador
  • Home-stay with a private room & two meals per day
  • Tuition for Spanish classes (32 hours for the two-week program, 60 hours for the three-week program)
  • Cultural activities
  • Community Outreach/Service Learning in Quito

Not Included in Program Fee

  • Passport and Visa fees (if applicable) 
  • Central Piedmont course registration associated with the program
  • Personal expenses (ex: Lunches, snacks, souvenirs, etc.)

Associated Courses

You must register for the Summer 2023 term. 

If you are seeking academic credit for your participation you must register for either: 

  • SPN 11X or SPN 21X: Only offered in the 3-week program
  • HUM 120 - Cultural Studies: Only offered in the 2-week program

If you are not seeking to earn academic credit for your participation, you must register for TVL 7800 - a non-curriculum course.
