2019 was a year of progress and the full realization of the important work ahead of us. I believe the comprehensive, transparent, and inclusive work that went into the development of our new vision, mission, values, and strategic plan and goals will be seen in the years to come as a watershed moment in the college’s history. It takes courage and tremendous collaboration for an institution to re-define excellence for itself and then adopt the values and strategy to move forward with intentionality.

I am proud of all we undertook and accomplished in 2019. We laid the foundation for our ongoing work to enhance student success and program completion and provide improved pathways to greater economic mobility.

Our overarching goal will always be to become a more effective institution, organized in a way that puts our focus and resources on the student experience and helping more students be successful. When organizational structures and resource allocations are aligned properly, it improves communication, increases productivity, and inspires innovation. We know the areas in which we can improve. Our work in 2019 positioned us to move forward and make changes in 2020 that will lead ultimately to improvement.

Thank you for your engagement, wise counsel, and support. Working together, Central Piedmont will serve Mecklenburg County even better, helping more of our community members achieve greater economic mobility and a better quality of life.
