Graduating with a Degree, Diploma or Certificate

If you’re completing a degree or college diploma at Central Piedmont Community College, you must apply to receive your credential, as well as to participate in a commencement ceremony.

Eligibility

To graduate, you must meet the following requirements:

    • Some programs require a grade of C or higher in specific courses
  • Complete at least 25% of your program’s total credit hours at Central Piedmont
  • All required courses for your program must be completed according to your catalog year.
    • Your catalog year determines the course requirements you must meet and is based on when you were admitted to your program
    • Catalog years run fall through summer
    • If you do not enroll in program‑related courses for three consecutive terms, you may be required to follow a newer catalog year
    • Catalog year adjustments require approval from academic leadership

Participate in commencement

Central Piedmont hosts two ceremonies each year: one at the end of the spring semester (May) and one at the end of the fall semester (December). Students who finish their coursework in the summer semester will be invited to participate in the December ceremony.

If approved to graduate, you will receive an email from graduation@cpcc.edu with instructions on how to register for commencement and order your cap and gown. If you do not receive a registration email and believe you are eligible for graduation, please contact your advisor or email the Graduation Office.
