The future of our community depends on talent, opportunity and forward-thinking leadership. At Central Piedmont, we are leading boldly — developing exceptional people, accelerating workforce readiness and preparing students to lead with purpose. Our three-year strategic plan (2026-29) is more than a roadmap. It is our commitment to power the prosperity of our region. The college has built strong momentum. Now, we are pushing further to move from excellent to exceptional – and together, we are preparing workforce leaders, strengthening communities and shaping a future filled with possibility.

Our focus is clear and defined. We will advance four strategic goals that best reflect student, community and workforce needs across Mecklenburg County and the surrounding region. Each strategic goal has specific corresponding initiatives that will guide the college’s work over the next three years.

EMPOWER students to be workforce leaders

How we will empower:

  • Ensure more students persist in earning workforce credentials.  
  • Enhance transfer pathways to better facilitate the transition to four-year institutions.  
  • Increase access by streamlining processes to remove student financial barriers.  
  • Expand access to transformative student services and experiences.

How we will activate:

  • Strengthen partnerships with local employers to expand and scale academic and training programs and corresponding curriculum.

  • Maximize outreach to high-growth community segments, increasing awareness and engagement.    
  • Propel student awareness and participation in on-the-job training experiences.
