About the Dual Enrollment program
There are three types of Dual Enrollment pathways available at Central Piedmont: the transfer pathway, the career and technical education pathway and the continuing education pathway. Each semester, you may participate in up to two pathways at once—for example, a transfer pathway and a career and technical pathway.
Keep in mind that you may only enroll in courses within your selected pathway(s). If you register for classes outside of those pathways, the college will remove them from your schedule.

How to apply
Complete the Central Piedmont Dual Enrollment application.
Once you submit your application, the liaison at your school will be prompted via email to approve your request to participate. Central Piedmont must receive approval from your school by the following dates. Leave plenty of time between when you submit your application and when your high school's approval is due, and check with your high school to see whether it has its own approval deadlines.

One week after Central Piedmont receives your high school’s approval, you will receive an email containing your college ID number, instructions for setting up your Central Piedmont accounts and a link to complete the dual enrollment new student orientation. Within four weeks of receiving your ID number, you will receive another email confirming you have been cleared to register for classes provided you have completed the College’s dual enrollment orientation.

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) determines which dual enrollment classes count toward high school graduation requirements. Visit the NCDPI website for more details. Please ask your high school counselor for more information.
Visit the NC Community Colleges website to learn more about institutions that will accept credit earned by dual enrollment students at Central Piedmont.
For schools outside of these two articulation agreements, you should reach out to the admissions office of that school to learn how Central Piedmont credits will transfer.
We recommend trying to resolve any issues first with the instructor; however, if that is not possible or successful, you have the right to file a formal appeal/grievance.
To file a grade appeal or a grievance, a written statement must be filed within 30 calendar days after the alleged decision or action occurred. We recommend involving a member of the Dual Enrollment team sooner rather than later, so we can help you advocate and escalate if needed.

If you cannot complete your class(es) for extraordinary medical or personal reasons, you can consider applying for a medical or compassionate withdrawal. Requests must be submitted no later than 30 days after the last day of the impacted term.
You can access the required form by logging in to MyCollege, selecting Academics, then Student Services, then Student Forms. You will be notified of a decision within 10 business days of submitting your request.

Accommodation plans such as an IEP or 504 Plan do not automatically transfer to college. If you would like to request an accommodation at Central Piedmont, complete the intake form with Disability and Access Services.
If you are a minor, your parents will retain access to your education records due to Leon's Law. Once you turn 18, your parents/guardians will not have access to your educational records due to protection under FERPA.
If you would like to grant your parents access to your records, you can complete this Student Information Release Authorization Form (PDF) and email it to Central Piedmont's Records department.
