If additional public safety resources are needed from local police, fire, or medic, that extra help can also be immediately dispatched by radio.
If you call Security Services for help, you can expect a response within three minutes for an emergency or within approximately 15 minutes for a non-emergency. The Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA), signed into law on December 23, 2024, is a crucial step towards eradicating hazing on college campuses and ensuring the safety and well-being of students. The Stop Campus Hazing Act defines hazing as any intentional, knowing, or reckless act committed by a person against a student that causes or is likely to contribute to a substantial risk of physical or psychological injury.
In addition, the Stop Campus Hazing Act amends the Clery Act requiring colleges and universities to publicly report incidents of hazing and maintain a Campus Hazing Transparency Report. This report must summarize the findings of responsibility for hazing violations by recognized student organizations and be updated at least twice a year.
In accordance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, Central Piedmont Community College will publish the Campus Hazing Transparency Report on actual findings of violations involving alcohol, drugs, sexual assault, physical assault and hazing by Registered Student Organizations formally affiliated by the college.
The report includes:
- the name of the responsible organization(s);
- the dates of the incident, report, charge, investigation, and resolution
- a general description of the incident
- the subsequent charges, findings, and sanctions placed on the organization
