Foreign Language Placement Testing

If you are studying a foreign language at Central Piedmont, you can take a placement test to qualify for higher placement. To determine which level of foreign language you can take when you start at Central Piedmont, you will need to take the respective foreign language placement test.

Test format

The Spanish and French placement tests are computerized, untimed multiple-choice tests that will assess your reading comprehension, grammar, and language mastery. 

You will receive your placement test scores immediately.

Retest policy

Special permission from your program may be required to retake the Spanish and French placement tests. If retaking a test within one year of the last test, a retest fee of $10 will apply. Visit the Testing Center for a Retake Authorization Form.

Frequently asked questions

Please bring a valid photo ID (Central Piedmont student ID, driver’s license, military ID or passport). 

Lockers are provided to store personal belongings at the Central Campus Testing Center. For other testing center locations, please leave personal belongings in your vehicle (out of sight) or ask a testing center employee for assistance. 

The testing center will provide scrap paper and pencils.

If you have a documented disability or previously received accommodations, contact Disability and Access Services before testing to arrange appropriate support.

Your test scores will be available in your MyCollege account.
