The Summer Bridge program helps recent high school graduates transition to college-level learning with confidence while avoiding “summer melt.” Designed for graduating high school seniors who attend participating CMS public or private schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area, the program gives you an early start at Central Piedmont with structure, support and momentum. Through a holistic application review, Central Piedmont looks for motivated students from diverse backgrounds.
By completing core classes early, you can lighten your future course load, jump-start your journey toward a degree, or transfer to a four-year university.

Yes. Tuition, books, and fees are covered. Students are responsible only for personal supplies and laptops, if available. Central Piedmont library can loan laptops to students who need them for the entire duration of the program.
Graduating high school seniors with a minimum 2.0 GPA from a participating CMS public or private school. (Students with lower GPAs may be considered after an interview.)
Priority is given to those attending Central Piedmont, but it is not a strict requirement for admission to the program.
Because the program is accelerated, only two unexcused absence is permitted.
