In the Teacher Prep program, you’ll explore the field of education early while learning the foundations of great teaching and why it’s such a meaningful, rewarding career. Upon program completion, and per the statewide Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, you will be prepared to transfer to a four-year university with many general education and foundational major-specific courses completed. The AATP degree is best for students interested in elementary education or teaching subjects like social studies, history, foreign languages, and English.

Through this program, you will also become familiar with commonly used teaching tools such as Kahoot and Smore, while building practical skills you can carry into your future classroom. To become a teacher in North Carolina, you need to earn a bachelor’s degree, complete a state-approved teacher prep program and pass required exams. You then apply for a state license through NCDPI. If you already have a degree, you can teach under a Residency License while finishing training.
