About the Simulation and Game Development - Programming program
As an associate degree student, you will follow a comprehensive curriculum that covers the core knowledge and skills needed in simulation and game development. You will also participate in work-based learning, or practical training that connects what you learn in class to real jobs.
This unique combination of project-based curriculum, portfolio development, collaboration and mastery of industry tools helps prepare students for both employment and transfer to a four-year institution.

As a rule of thumb, anything marketed as a "gaming" computer should be able to run the applications that your courses will require.

Game design focuses on ideas and player experience. Designers create the rules, mechanics, levels, story, characters and overall gameplay. They decide how the game should work and feel.
Game development, on the other hand, focuses on creating the game technically. Developers use programming, art, audio and game engines to turn the design into a working game.
In short, game design means planning the game, whereas game development is mainly about building the game.
