In this Associate in Applied Science degree program, you will explore rescue operations management, emergency medical science management and emergency medical science education methods. EMTs provide basic life support with shorter training, handling CPR, oxygen, bleeding control and patient transport. Paramedics have advanced training (1–2 years) and deliver advanced life support, including IVs, medications, airway management and cardiac monitoring. Paramedics handle more complex, life-threatening emergencies. The degree program at Central Piedmont will prepare you to become a paramedic.
