About the Cosmetology program
This Associate in Applied Science degree combines classroom instruction with hands-on salon training. You’ll refine your skills on real clients in a supervised setting while learning from experienced instructors. The program also includes management, business, and critical-thinking coursework. Graduates may pursue careers as stylists, salon owners, nail technicians, estheticians, makeup artists, or educators. Over two years, you’ll receive the same education at a third of the cost of other programs.

Program application
After applying to Central Piedmont, you will need to submit a separate application to the Cosmetology program.
Applications are accepted on a rolling admissions basis until all spots are filled for each fall and spring semester. If you are not admitted, you are encouraged to submit a new application during the next application period.

Cosmetologists work in a wide range of settings. These include beauty salons, department stores, barbershops, hospitals, hotels, spas and resorts.
After completing the program, you’ll be eligible to take the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination. Upon passing, you will receive your license.

Central Piedmont is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees.
The Cosmetology program at Central Piedmont is accredited by the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners.
