About the programs

About the Biomedical Equipment Technology program

The Biomedical Equipment Technology A.A.S. prepares students to install, operate, troubleshoot and repair medical devices used in healthcare. Coursework blends electronics, networking, safety and anatomy basics, plus work-based learning. With an A.A.S. and two years of experience, you may become certified as a Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET).

You will learn to set up, test, calibrate and repair medical equipment; follow hospital safety standards; document work; and troubleshoot problems. Classes cover circuits and electronics, networking and security basics, anatomy and medical terminology, imaging concepts, and biomedical instrumentation. Work-based learning adds supervised, real-world practice.
