This Associate in Applied Science degree program combines classroom learning with hands-on training. You’ll study theory and automotive systems, including brakes, electrical and electronic systems, engine performance, steering and suspension, automatic transmissions/transaxles, engine repair, climate control, manual drivetrains and EV/HEV systems. When you complete the program, you’ll be prepared to take the ASE exam and ready to work in dealerships, fleet shops and independent repair shops.
The Automotive Technology program prepares you to apply broad, in-depth knowledge of basic automotive systems commonly found in repair environments. You’ll learn to use service information and perform basic electrical and mechanical diagnosis, measurement and repair using proper tools and procedures. You’ll also learn about the operation, diagnosis and repair of complex vehicle control systems using appropriate test equipment.
Upon completion of the program, you will be prepared to take the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) exam.
