The Medical Laboratory Technology program trains you to conduct clinical lab tests. These tests help diagnose, treat and monitor diseases. You will gain hands-on experience through coursework and clinical rotations. Our graduates are ready for entry-level jobs in hospitals and clinical labs.
Yes. Student laboratory sessions provide hands-on experience with a variety of laboratory equipment, testing methods, and standard operating procedures. You will also get hands-on experience through simulation-based learning in Central Piedmont’s Simulation Center. Using realistic healthcare simulations, our students build confidence, strengthen critical-thinking skills, and prepare for clinical experiences. In addition, students complete clinical rotations at local laboratories, gaining real-world experience with diverse laboratory equipment, testing methods, and professional workflows.

Students are required to complete a biology, math, and chemistry course prior to starting the Medical Laboratory Technology program. While college-level courses are preferred, high school courses are accepted. Please read the specifics for your program on the requirements page.
