Student Government Association (SGA)
The Student Government Association (SGA) is your representative body to address issues and concerns from students. It serves as a bridge between the student population and the college administration, ensuring student voices are heard in campus decision-making.
- Key responsibilities: Advocate for student needs and concerns, recommend the allocation of budgetary dollars, student events, community service and support the development of student clubs and organizations.
- Benefits: Development of high-level leadership and advocacy skills, experience in budget management, and direct networking with college leadership and the Board of Trustees.

Executive Committee members
Gabriel Alghrary is the President of the Student Government Association and is pursuing an Associate in Science with a Biological Sciences pathway, with plans to graduate in May 2027. Gabriel joined SGA with a vision of making Central Piedmont more than a place students commute to, but a true community where students feel they belong. This year, he is focused on strengthening connections among students as a foundation for future engagement initiatives. His long-term goal is to become a general surgeon.
Responsibilities
- serves as chief executive officer of the SGA
- coordinates and oversees committees
- presides over SGA meetings
- serves as an ex-officio member of the Central Piedmont Board of Trustees
Allison Povinelli serves as the Vice President of the Student Government Association and is studying Communications, with an expected graduation date of Spring 2027. She joined SGA because she believes every student deserves to have their voice heard. This year, Allison is excited to help students discover the many opportunities available at Central Piedmont, from clubs and organizations to events and activities that help students feel connected and engaged. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in sports media.
Responsibilities
- assumes the duties of the president if they are unable to fulfill their duties
- assumes the duties delegated to them by the SGA president and SGA advisor
- manages the application, recruitment, and training of other SGA members
- monitors committees
Robert Walker III serves as SGA Treasurer and is pursuing an Associate of Arts degree with plans to major in Political Science and Economics. Expected to graduate in May 2027, Robert joined SGA to ensure that students are accurately represented and that their needs and concerns are addressed. He is particularly excited about creating opportunities and experiences that strengthen the community aspect of Central Piedmont while helping students form lasting connections. His future goal is to earn a Juris Doctor degree and become an attorney.
Responsibilities
- works with Student Life staff to make purchases as needed by the SGA
- works and communicates with clubs/student organizations requesting student fee funds
- keeps and updates SGA financial records
- provides SGA financial reports as necessary
Andie Egdemir is serving as the Student Government Association Secretary while pursuing a degree in Mathematics and is expected to graduate in Spring 2027. Motivated to step outside her comfort zone and gain valuable leadership experience, Andie joined SGA to become more involved on campus. This year, she is excited to build meaningful connections and foster a strong sense of community among students. Following graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in actuarial science and eventually own her own actuarial firm.

- creates and maintains permanent records and reports for the SGA
- maintains the record of attendance for all SGA meetings
- prepares and distributes a copy of meeting minutes to all SGA members and advisors
Rita Taveras serves as the Public Information Officer for the Student Government Association and is studying Interior Design, with an expected graduation date of May 2027. She joined SGA to encourage greater student involvement in campus life and help students feel connected to the Central Piedmont community. Rita is excited to meet new people and help foster a welcoming campus environment. After graduation, she hopes to continue her education by earning her bachelor's and master's degrees.

- prepares and releases clear and concise publicity to the clubs, student organizations, and the college community as directed by the SGA members and advisors
- advertises SGA events and initiatives across the college
- presents a unifying message to students that reflects the one college model
- maintains SGA related documents, social media, and websites
Oyuky Lozada Alanis serves as an SGA Senator and is studying Pre-Dental Hygiene. She joined SGA to meet new people and help create memorable experiences for students across campus. This year, Oyuky is excited to advocate for the student body and help bring student ideas and initiatives to life. Following graduation, she plans to pursue a career as either a general dentist or pediatric dentist.
Eamon O'Connor-Brown is the Merancas Campus Senator and a Business major expected to graduate in Summer 2027. He joined SGA to improve the student experience at his campus and is especially passionate about strengthening connections between student organizations and the broader campus community. Eamon hopes to make SGA more approachable and accessible to students while helping them feel comfortable sharing their ideas and concerns. In the future, he hopes to become a project manager or business owner.
Victor Bright serves as the Levine Campus Senator and is pursuing a degree in Political Science with a pre-law focus, with plans to graduate in May 2027. He joined SGA to serve his community and is passionate about helping students become more connected and engaged, particularly at the Levine campus. Victor is dedicated to improving the student experience and creating opportunities for students to build relationships and get involved. His future goal is to practice law and pursue a career in North Carolina politics, with aspirations of running for public office.
Student Ambassadors
Student ambassadors serve as the official face of Central Piedmont. They are motivated, service-minded leaders who represent the college at campus and community events. The application is open each year in February-March.
- Key Responsibilities: Support outreach and recruitment, lead campus tours and welcome new students.
- Benefits: Professional development, networking opportunities, and a $2,000 scholarship per participating semester.
- Eligibility: Minimum 3.0 GPA and completion of 18 credit hours. Commitment includes monthly meetings and 60 hours of service per semester.

Campus Activities Board
Campus Activities Board is a student-led organization that plans and hosts social, educational and recreational events for the student body. All Central Piedmont students from all campuses are encouraged to attend events and participate in CAB to help plan activities. Students who join CAB are able to plan and put on events like DeStress Week, Student Mixers, movie nights and more.
