About the Human Services Technology program
This Associate in Science degree includes curriculum related to Human Services Technology, Developmental Disabilities, Addiction and Recovery Studies and Social Services. Coursework covers human behavior, ethics, diversity, systems theory and how life challenges affect people. Through fieldwork and internships, you’ll gain experience supporting individuals and families. The program also prepares you to transfer into bachelor’s programs aligning with social work, counseling and human services.

Yes. Central Piedmont’s Health and Social Services program is one of only two Council for Standards in Human Services Education (CSHSE)-accredited programs in North Carolina.
There is currently no state licensure required for human services generalists. However, upon program completion, graduates will be eligible to take the national Human Services-Board Certified Practitioner exam. Students in the Addiction and Recovery Studies program may take the exam to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
