Voicemail

There are several ways to manage your voice messages with the Cisco phone system using email or Unity (the automated system from your desk phone).

Unity

To access the Unity system, press the "Voice Message" button on your desk phone.

To access your voicemail box from a different phone line, you will need to dial your extension:

  • On campus: dial * followed by your four-digit extension. This will send you directly to your voicemail box.
  • Off campus:
    • Dial your full number (704.330.####), or
    • Dial 704.330.2722 and enter your extension when prompted (non-DIDs).
    • Once you reach your voicemail box, press * to be prompted for your PIN. Enter your PIN followed by #.

Once you are signed in to the Unity system, there are several options:

  • Press 1 to hear new messages.
  • Press 2 to send a message.
  • Press 3 to review saved and deleted messages:
    • Press 1 for saved messages.
    • Press 2 for deleted messages.
    • While listening to any message (new, saved, or deleted) you can press 3 to delete the message.
  • Press 4 to go to the preferences menu, which will have the following options:
    • Press 1 for greetings.

      • Press 1 to rerecord your greeting.
      • Press 2 to turn alternate greeting on or off.

Additional Notes and Tips

  • A full listing of all menu options can be found in the Cisco voicemail menu guide (PDF).
  • Messages sent to the deleted items folder will be permanently deleted in 15 days. As long as you regularly delete messages, Unity will purge them.
  • Messages marked as read will be saved and not deleted.
  • If you need to retain messages outside of the aging policies of Unity, you can either open the message and select "Save As" in the "File" menu.
