Technology-Enhanced Facilities

The college provides a number of venues for both faculty and students to experience the cutting edge in technology. ITS is committed to providing state-of-the-art facilities and the support to utilize those facilities.

The following are the varying technology-enhanced facilities and technology available within those facilities at the college.

If you need additional software or service other than the college standard software (instructional images), you must submit a setup request form. Software installation can only be performed by ITS personnel. If assignments require students to download software, please communicate this to ITS.

Classrooms, Labs, and Touchdown Stations

  • Classroom and Lab Set Up

    Use this form to submit a computer, smart, and STC setup request (login required).

    Reasons to submit a classroom/lab setup form:

    • installation of new software
    • need for student E-Locker space beyond the 30 MB allocation
    • adopting new course materials which requires a particular plug-in or other software installation
    • need for use of a non-Windows operating system
    • new hardware which needs to be installed or moved
    • need for administrative rights so that students may install software or make system changes as part of the class exercises, etc.

    ITS only supports licensed college software. Issues with other software is the responsibility of the user. All software should only be installed according to their licensing agreements. All licenses must be on file with ITS.

Smart Classrooms

Smart Classrooms, which are specially-equipped rooms located throughout Central Piedmont's campuses, enable faculty and staff to incorporate multimedia and internet content into their lectures. Each Smart Classroom has a smart podium equipped with a networked computer, DVD/VCR player, and a ceiling-mounted data projector.

    Instructions are provided on how to sort the information. The list provided does not replace our online service for scheduling Smart Classrooms. It is suggested that you save the file to you computer if you would like to keep changes you have made, otherwise view the spreadsheet as read-only.

  • Computer Classrooms and Smart Auditoriums

    Computer classrooms are specially-equipped rooms located throughout Central Piedmont campuses, with a networked computer at each seat in the room. The instructor's station will be connected to a ceiling mounted data projector. In some computer classrooms, the instructor's station may be a Smart Podium.

    Smart Auditoriums are equipped as smart classrooms and may offer additional services. The major difference is greater seating capacity. To confirm seating capacity, available services, and to reserve a room, contact your campus scheduler.
