PTK hosts Keep Mecklenburg County Beautiful Day

Spark BannerPhi Theta Kappa, together with Keep America Beautiful, Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte will host an event on Wednesday, November 15 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. as part of Keep America Beautiful Day. The event will be held on Central Piedmont Community College’s Central Campus (on the Quad).

The event coincides with the GIS Day Expo also being held on CPCC’s Central Campus on November 15. As part of the activities, CPCC students and the total community are invited to come learn more about ways to keep our community and our county clean. There will be a student art exhibit of sculptures, jewelry and other art made from recycled objects. The CPCC Welding Club will feature a booth of recycled objects. Home recycling bins will be given away by the City of Charlotte, and composting demonstrations will be held.

In addition, participants are encouraged to bring old cell phones and eyeglasses, which will be recycled for various community causes. Old household batteries brought to the event will be sent to the recycling center.
