CPCC’s Center for Military Families and Veterans to host Veterans Day ceremonies Nov. 10 – 17 at four campuses

WHAT: The Center for Military Families and Veterans will host Veterans Day ceremonies to honor and remember all of the men and women in uniform who serve our country. This year, there will be events on Central Campus, as well as additional events at Merancas Campus in Huntersville, Cato Campus in Charlotte and Levine Campus in Matthews, Nov. 15 –  17. These events are free and open to the public and to the media (parking is also free).

Nov. 10 at Central Campus:

11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Flag ceremony in front of Overcash Center, on the lawn

Nov. 15 at Merancas Campus

8 – 9 a.m.: Flag ceremony in the Criminal Justice Building, Entrance

Nov. 16 at Cato Campus

11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Flag ceremony in front of the Cato I Building

Nov. 17 at Levine Campus

noon – 1:30 p.m.: Flag ceremony in the Levine I Entrance

In addition to hosting the above flag ceremonies, The Center for Military Families and Veterans, together with CPCC Libraries, will host a special event “World War I and America – The Toll of War and Homecoming” on Nov. 14 from 2 – 4 p.m., in Pease Auditorium on the CPCC Central Campus to commemorate the 100th centenary of WWI.

The event will include a panel discussion facilitated by Dr. Belinda Tindal, staff historian at the Levine Museum of the New South. Attendees will hear from five veterans who served in the different branches of the military as they talk about the toll of the war and what their homecoming was like when they returned from their tour of duty. This event is free and open to the public as well.
