Students will cover the major issues including credit card, bank and financial crimes relating to these investigations. The class will discuss and identify phishing schemes and other social engineering tactics used by criminals today. Many investigative techniques used by federal agencies to catch these thieves will be covered in detail. Students will use computers to learn more internet search engines and other techniques and receive software that will assist their investigations. Extensive videos, online investigations and the US Secret Service electronic crime training will be used. This is a must course for any investigator involved with financial crimes and internet investigations.

As vehicle manufacturers continue to advance their product line, new technology is continuously being implemented in automobiles to provide more entertainment, security, safety and user features. This class covers how car thieves may try to break into or hack into new vehicles, what/where digital evidence may be located and remote GPS location services such as OnStar and other brands.
This Online course is an introduction to Basic Crime Scene techniques for First Responders along with an overview for other investigators or new police officers. The course covers the functions of a CSI and basic crime scene duties. Crime scene safety and types of personnel at scenes are covered. This Online course is primarily for First Responders but is also a good review for experienced investigators when it comes to seizing digital evidence. The course covers the seizure of both home and network computers. Details involving safe handling of cell phones, PDA’s, storage media and cameras are also covered. The course discusses the potential digital evidence found in computer logs, documents, address book lists and other areas of the computer where evidence can be found. Standard operating procedure for safeguarding evidence when seized and transported is covered in this course. Investigative questions for targets and victims are reviewed. The course is an excellent source of guidelines used for search warrants.
This Online course will introduce the student to the basics for cell phone investigations while covering the electronic evidence that is found on handheld devices along with the complicated legal issues surrounding cell phones today. The course will cover evidence, background data for the various types of phones like CDMA and GSM, cell phone seizures and what issues to be aware of like SIM cards, airplane mode, PINs and PUK numbers. We will cover searches justified by exigent circumstances and incidents where it is not covered. Automobile exceptions, search incident to arrest and search warrant issues will also be discussed. This 24 hour online course is a must for patrol officers, investigators and detectives interested in improving their cell phone investigative knowledge.
This Online course will introduce the student to all types of credit card frauds but will concentrate on digital evidence and computer issues. The course will cover phishing, data mining, ATM fraud, ID Theft related fraud with credit cards along with various computer cybercrime fraud. The course will cover investigative tips and sources for gaining information and assistance for investigators. A discussion on state and federal credit card violations will assist the investigator in determining the best statutes to use and how they fit the crime. New technology on no swipe cards and the differences on debit vs credit type cards is also covered. This class is a must course for financial crimes and credit card investigations.
This online class is designed to familiarize the crime scene detective/technician with the basic requirements of crime scene photography. Students will become more knowledgeable with the use of light, exposure, shutter speed and the general functions of cameras. We'll also look at the important principles of photography as related to evidence and crime scenes to identify the elements of a good, technical photograph. We’ve included important video/’how to’ links on every major topic for good photography.
After learning the basics in Part I, you can now identify the elements of a good, technical photograph. Now we'll cover various types of crime scenes and the challenges they may have in photographing the scene and specific evidence. This class will cover the photography of fingerprints, footprint and tire tracks, bloodstain evidence, vehicles incidents, aerial shots, arson scenes and homicides. The uses of flash techniques will also help the student learn angles, depth and lighting in taking photos of certain types of evidence. In addition, a separate section covers the ins and outs of photography for patrol officers who mostly use point and shoot cameras. This Online course provides an assessment of what to expect in the courtroom when a digital evidence case is involved, as well as the requirements for delivering expert testimony. It covers the current status of forensic digital evidence from both the scientific and legal perspectives in both criminal and civil cases. Students will see suggestions from prosecutors on testimony relating to digital evidence. Students will also see the process of qualifying an expert in court by prosecution and defense. You will see breakdowns, explanations and easy charts explaining the different media and binary terms. This course is a combination lecture course which sets an overview of digital evidence and the variety of electronic storage media that may be found or observed during vehicle stops and searches. Students will obtain a brief outline of search and seizure guides and consent search issues and then participate in practical search exercises of vehicles which will contain numerous items of digital evidence. This class will provide patrol and investigative officers an excellent overview of digital evidence found in vehicles today.
This class is designed for Detectives and Investigators, patrol officers, new police officers, and First Responders. It will also be good for Police Command Staff to look into the future. The class introduces all the facts, laws, history and evidentiary features related to the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by law enforcement. The current state and federal laws along with the challenges facing the FAA relative to the increase in drone activity is also covered. This Online course will provide the law enforcement officer, whether they are patrol, investigators or crime scene personnel with some basic background and information regarding fingerprint evidence. This is also a good refresher course to remind officers where and how fingerprint evidence can be found and used in today’s investigations. The pattern types, new technology, finding fingerprints databases, processing, powders and fingerprint terminology are all found in this great course. We will also touch on altered fingerprints, latent print photography and evidence collection. This course will assist the patrol officer and will also add to the expertise of crime scene techs and investigators. The class introduces the characteristics of firearms injury, types of bullet and GSR evidence along with how it is found at different crime scenes. The collection and identification of this evidence is covered in the class along with unique case histories that will re-enforce the experienced investigator on what is needed to improve on the investigation and what may be missed in making a good criminal case. Main modules will cover gunshot entrance wounds, contact, close range, intermediate and long-range wounds. Bullet wound analysis, wounds from handguns, shotguns, and rifles along with angle determination and ballistics are also covered. Students will get more information on gunshot residue, general characteristics of GSR, gunshot residue testing and other chemical tests. We will cover miscellaneous weapons like air weapons, zip guns and stud guns and details involving suicide by firearms. This course is designed to enhance the skill set of criminal investigators relative to using Internet-based tools. Locating people, social media sites and tracing emails are also covered. It covers the use of Google, Internet Research services, website tools, and capturing videos. This course also touches on software clients on cell phones that access the internet and are being used by criminals.
The course reviews various Internet crimes as well as traditional crimes that are facilitated by the Internet. Students will learn investigative tactics for various types of cybercrime including, but not limited to: fraud, identity theft, hacking, piracy, child exploitation, e-mail, illegal drugs and narcotics crimes, domestic and international terrorism, stalking, money laundering and financial crimes. This class involves online exercises that will allow each student to use the various investigative software, tools and utilities.
Before a digital investigator can be effective they must have sufficient background education and training. This course provides these fundamentals ensuring a solid foundation on which to build.
Topics covered include definitions, evolution of computers and computer forensics, numbering systems and metadata. Students will study the logical and physical aspects of hard drive data storage. Data hiding techniques such as Steganography and Alternate Data Streams will be introduced. Using practical exercises, we will explore data authentication and finally practice creating forensically sound image copies of various digital media.

This 32 hour course will provide students with basic information about GPS evidence. How does GPS work, GPS devices and what evidence is recovered are reviewed and other topics related to how GPS can assist an investigation. This online class will cover waypoints, track points and how GPS is interpreted. GPS evidence related to cell phones and photography is also covered so the investigator will learn more about metadata, geotagging and the evidentiary value of GPS information. We will introduce Bluetooth information and discuss issues for the protection of digital evidence and wireless devices. This course will assist the patrol officer and an experienced investigator in understanding more about wireless networks and new technology today. We have attached articles, photographs and some video clips to this course for students to download and save to learn more about routers, antenna basics, wireless security and other Wi-Fi information.
This online course includes an in-depth examination of smartphone technology and smartphone applications. Students will be guided through a progression of advancements in technology specifically addressing the needs of an investigator when dealing with smartphones. This course will cover dozens of applications that are currently being used by the general population, domestically and internationally. It will also cover ways of downloading applications and how to circumvent restrictive measures created by developers to ensure product stability and safety. Students will also learn about decoy applications that are designed to hide information from investigators.
This unique Online course will cover the most commonly used social networking sites today. Information about the site profile, how to review and peruse the site and the latest statistical information will be covered. Sites like Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and others are reviewed and discussed so the student can become more familiar with the shortcuts, potential evidence and dangers of some of these sites. The course covers cyber stalking, cybercrimes and IP addresses along with other investigative tips. This online training class is for experienced detectives and investigators, new police officers, and first responders. The class introduces all the facts and evidentiary features related to strangulation cases. The collection and identification of evidence is covered in the class along with what techniques and steps the experienced investigator needs to take in dealing with strangulation cases and what may be missed in making a good criminal case. Main modules will cover strangulation, hanging, ligature marks, photography, documentation and victim interviews. This 4class is designed for both experienced Detectives and Investigators, new police officers and First Responders. The class introduces 15 main areas of trace evidence that identifies this evidence in photos-videos and description as to how it is found at different types of crime scenes. The collection and identification is covered in the class along with unique case histories that will reinforce the experienced investigator on what is value and what may be missed in making a good criminal case. Main modules will cover explosives, firearms, tool marks, blood, fluids, hair, glass, shoe prints DNA and much more. The importance of trace evidence cannot be overemphasized. Awareness of this type of evidence can be critical to an investigation; training and experience are essential to maximize the value of this type of physical evidence.
This online training class is for both experienced Detectives and Investigators, new police officers and First Responders. The class introduces the wound injuries, patterns of injuries and an analysis of the forensic evidence. The collection and identification of this evidence is covered in the class along with unique case histories that will re- enforce the experienced investigator on what is needed to improve on the investigation and what may be missed in making a good criminal case. Main modules will cover wound analysis, wound injury, wound patterns, types of wounds, blunt force trauma and sharp force trauma. Gunshot wounds, bite marks, lacerations, stab wounds and bruises are also covered. Sections on electrocution, accidental injury, asphyxia, carbon monoxide, strangulations and bomb blast injury are covered in this class. This online class will have numerous photos and videos that relate to wounds, wound injury and forensic evidence.
