Career Development (formerly HRD)

The Career Development (formerly HRD) Program at CPCC offers Career Readiness Certificate preparation classes (Employability Skills Lab) on Central Campus and at Charlotte Works. Students will have access to KeyTrain software to help prepare for the exam.

Class participants may also be eligible for scholarships to cover the cost of WorkKeys assessments for the CRC. Read more about the CRC here.

Fall 2016 Classes (please attend the first day of class to register)

CRC Preparation and Employability Lab, HRD 8201

This course will cover developing a resume, interview preparation, submitting applications and job search strategies. Students will learn the components of an effective resume, including organization and formatting and how to customize their own resumes to convey greater confidence. Learners will also gain life skills and develop a positive self-concept that will enhance their employability and job performance, including the opportunity for a professional dress outfitting. All learners will also register for NC Works and can prepare and practice for the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) using KeyTrain software.

Enrollment is tuition-free if the participant qualifies for at least one of the following items:

  • I am currently unemployed
  • I have received notification of a pending layoff
  • I am working and eligible for the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit
  • I am working and earn wages at or below two hundred percent (200%) of the federal poverty guidelines.
