March 10, 2014
As you know the onsite team of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) visited our campus in late September of 2013. As a result of that visit, CPCC received two recommendations. Those recommendations were the following:
Core Requirement 2.7.2
The institution offers degree programs that embody a coherent course of study that is compatible with its stated mission and is based upon fields of study appropriate to higher education. (Program Content) The concern is specific to the Associate in General Education program.
Comprehensive Standard 220.127.116.11
The institution identifies expected outcomes, assesses the extent to which it achieves these outcomes, and provides evidence of improvement based on analysis of the results in educational programs, to include student learning outcomes. (Institutional Effectiveness)
The College has worked diligently to address the concerns expressed by the onsite committee and sent a report to SACSCOC on March 3. We look forward to hearing a response by mid-summer, 2014.
Meanwhile, preparations for the roll-out of our Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), STAR, continue, and implementation of this student success initiative is already underway.
Thanks to all of those involved in our SACS reaffirmation. The successful visit and follow-up resulted from their dedication to our students and CPCC!
