As you know the onsite team of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) has been on our campuses this week. I am pleased to announce that out of approximately 90 Core Requirements, Comprehensive Standards, and Federal Requirements, CPCC received only two recommendations. Those recommendations are the following:
Core Requirement 2.7.2
The institution offers degree programs that embody a coherent course of study that is compatible with its stated mission and is based upon fields of study appropriate to higher education. (Program Content) The concern is specific to the Associate in General Education program.
Comprehensive Standard 220.127.116.11
The institution identifies expected outcomes, assesses the extent to which it achieves these outcomes, and provides evidence of improvement based on analysis of the results in educational programs, to include student learning outcomes. (Institutional Effectiveness)
You will be hearing more about these two recommendations in the coming weeks as we move to address the Commission’s concerns. I am convinced that resolving these issues will benefit the College and our students.
I am also pleased to inform you that the onsite team praised the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), STAR, pointing out several of its strengths including promotion of early connection between faculty and students in support of student success.
Thanks to all of those involved in this critical initiative. The successful visit resulted from their dedication to our students and CPCC!
