Motorsports Academy
Beginning August 2009, CPCC’s Automotive Systems and Motorsports Academy will put Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) high school students on the path to academic and professional success faster.
CPCC Automotive Systems and Motorsports Academy students:
- earn FREE college credit that can be transferred to a two- or four-year institution upon successful completion of the program
- take classes that may be applied to a career track
- learn the value and importance of teamwork, dedication and commitment
- enjoy small class sized and quality instructors ready to equip students with such skills as automotive repair and race car fabrication
CPCC’s Automotive Systems and Motorsports Academy curriculum consists of four classes – Introduction to Racing, Race Car MIG Welding, Race Car Chassis Fabrication and Race Car Sheet Metal Fabrication to be completed Fall 09 and Spring 10 – that will teach you a variety of skills, including automotive repair and race car fabrication.

Certificate program - Automotive Systems with a Specialization in Motorsports
- Ideal for individuals who want to explore careers in the motorsports industry.
- 4-class sequence can be completed in two-semesters.
- Provides hands-on training in fabrication and welding.
- Taught at the CPCC North Campus.
- Graduates receive college credit.
Seminar series
- Intended for the motorsports enthusiasts with a personal interest in vehicle repairs and techniques.
- Seminars are taught during evening and weekends at the CPCC North Campus.
- Hands-on training in fabrication and decaling techniques.
Motorsports Institute
- Institute offers in-depth training in key motorsports technologies.
- 8-week courses offer hands-on training in fabrication, painting, welding, decaling, and assembly.
- Classes are taught in fully-equipped fabrication labs at the CPCC North Campus.
- Evening schedule accommodates students with full-time jobs.
- CPCC students, in the machining program, are already employed with Nextel Cup teams like Hendrick and Joe Gibbs Racing.
