THE Geek Fest Comes to CPCC’s Levine Campus

Who said being a “geek” isn’t “chic?” The Geek Fest 2007, coming to the CPCC Levine Campus (2800 Campus Ridge Road, Matthews) on Wednesday, October 31 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., highlights the latest in technology and career opportunities. The Geek Fest will feature cutting-edge industry, media, gadgets, hardware, software, services, innovations, education, and much more. CPCC students, college employees, and the community are encouraged to attend.

In addition to showcasing many of CPCC’s innovations, The Geek Fest features innovative regional and national businesses and their contributions to the hottest savvy trends. Activities will include demonstrations, guest speakers and presenters, training sessions, webcasts, games, music, contests, food, great PRIZES and more. Some major highlights include a sample exhibition of the human anatomy from Gunther von Hagens’ “BODY WORLDS,” simulations, video gaming, digital media exhibits, robotics, sustainable technologies and much more.

The Geek Fest will feature information on various CPCC programs including the futures institute, automotive technology, computer programming, simulation and game development, engineering, eLearning, geographic information systems and many more. Students can find out more about various career opportunities and explore exciting new developments in technology.

Participants can win great prizes including iPods, gadgets, software, games, gift certificates, shirts and more. Major contributors to the event include Body Worlds, Sonic Foundry, ESRI, Adobe, Reallusion, ImaginOn, NCCCS BioNetwork, Charlotte Energy Solutions and many more.
