Waiver Guidelines

Mandatory Placement Testing Policy and Waiver Guidelines

You may qualify for a placement waiver by the following methods:

1. Completion of college level Math and English courses with C- or higher grades from a regionally accredited college or university; or an official IB or AP test score report giving credit for college English or Math.

2. An official high school transcript showing graduation within 5 years (or from February of senior year if you're still enrolled), showing your unweighted high school GPA of 2.6 or higher with a college prep 4th math from the list.

3. Official ACT or SAT score report showing scores of above the national benchmarks within 5 years.

4. NCDAP placement test scores from another North Carolina Community College within 5 years.

5. Being a non-degree seeking student and taking a class or classes that don't have English or Math prerequisites.

Students who qualify for a waiver must see a Campus Registrar, Counselor, Advisor, Transfer Resource Center staff member, or First Year Experience staff member.



If you have taken the NC DAP placement test at another school within the last five years, have an official copy of your scores mailed or faxed to CPCC,  C/O: Matt Bruining, Director.  Scores must be sent from the educational institution where test was taken.  Only College-Level Math from the old ACCUPLACER battery of tests will still be accepted.
