Retest Policy

Central Piedmont Community College has been using the North Carolina Diagnostic and Placement test (NC DAP) since 2013, and considers it to be a very reliable and accurate assessment for placing students into English and math courses, or courses with English, reading or math prerequisites. Accordingly, CPCC makes every effort to provide students with a thorough understanding of the importance of the placement testing process, as well as provide students with the opportunity to take realistic practice tests before taking the actual placement tests. Research conducted by the College Board concludes “… that students be allowed to retest only after they have done a thorough review of the subject matter being tested.” As a result, CPCC has adopted the retest guidelines listed below.
