Japanese Warlords and Modern Media
Projected Travel Dates: May 21- June 4, 2014
This course will take students on a historical journey focusing on the old capital of Kyoto, through temples and castles, streets and battlefields as the retrace the footsteps of the infamous warlords and samurai who continue to influence modern Japanese cutlure and entertainment. Students will apply these experiences and observations to examinations of contemporary interpretations of the Warring States Period through literature, TV shows, included anime, and performing arts.
