Communication and English in Jamaica - Spring Break
Travel Dates: March 11-18, 2017 (Spring Break)
What are you doing for your next Spring Break? Want to spend it exploring the culture, food, and natural beauty of the Caribbean? This program will give you the opportunity to learn about Jamaica behind the scenes – including culinary delights, the Bob Marley Museum, native animals at the Jamaica Zoo, the role of education at the University of the West Indies, the natural scenery of Coyaba River Gardens, and historical religious artifacts. Students will visit with the Jamaica Cultural Alliance and learn about their "I Can Fly" program. They will also have the opportunity to engage with Jamaican youth about the importance of sharing and preserving heritage and traditions.

The courses for this program will run as short session classes Feb 13- March 31, 2017. While in Charlotte, they will function as online classes. During spring break (March 11-18) all participants will travel to Jamaica.
All accepted applicants will receive information on how to register in November 2016. All participants are highly encouraged to register for both classes for spring 2017 as they will be taught in coordination for this experiential learning opportunity. However, students must, at a minimum, register for one of the courses to participate in the trip.
