1. Review carefully this Study German in Germany website.

2. Submit application to Global Learning Office, OC303.  
Once application accepted, pay your registration fee ($100).
Make check payable to: CPCC Study Abroad and submit to CPCC cashier.  Use the cashier payment form linked on this website which has the correct account number for this Foreign Language Immersion program. Request that your receipt be scanned to Daniela Weinert.
3. Get your passport photos. 2" x 2", full face, identical. Various places will do these such as Kinkos, Biggs Camera on Kings, AAA, CVS (cheapest) or the Main Post Office on McDowell St. when getting passport.
4.Obtain your passport. Need 2 passport photos, birth certificate, drivers license, SS card. The Main Post Office downtown on McDowell St. will process for you. It will take 6-8 weeks to process. (Can do a RUSH for extra $$)  http://travel.state.gov
5.. Make deposits payable to CPCC Study Abroad according to payment schedule. Use the cashier payment form linked on this website which has the correct account number for this Foreign Language Immersion program.
6. Consider getting health and travel insurance in addition to what is provided.

7. CPCC registration in early May (deadline 31 May)
You will select GER111-60, GER112-60, GER211-60, GER212-60 with accompanying Lab section. and/or GER161-01
8. Prepare for Heidelberg: Work through the lab activity checklist watching assigned DVDs/videos and working with Language Lab software to be better prepared for the adventure!
9. Register your trip and passport with the US Department of State.  https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ui/ If USA needs to contact you or you lose your passport or whatever, the embassy can retrieve your info via this State Department Website. Read the information and then click on the “short trip” option and fill in the form. Be sure to do this when you have all of your information ready. Everyone must register their trip at this website so that any problems can be more easily solved.
10. Check State Department Website for Travel Warnings.
11. Check Center for Disease Control Website for advisory.
12. Check responsible practices in Student Study Abroad Handbook website.
13. Sign waiver forms in April/May.
14. Attend "getting ready" and "getting acquainted" sessions before we go.
