Student Leadership

Student Life offers a variety of opportunities to help support a student's interest in discovering and enhancing their own leadership skills. Whether through leadership seminars (see below), a student organization, or our annual conference, there is plenty of opportunity for students to learn and practice while at CPCC.

Student Leadership Academy:

The Student Leadership Academy (SLA) offers students engaging and interactive learning opportunities to explore the concepts, principles, and practices of effective and ethical leadership. Students are expected to develop an appreciation for ethics, character, and civility. The SLA currently offers the following non-credit leadership programs: Emerging Leaders and IGNITE.

The guiding principles of the Student Leadership Academy are:

  • Leadership is a process, not a position
  • Everyone has the potential to be a leader
  • Leadership is developed through both education and experience.

Online Student Leadership Guide:

Can't participate in SLA or attend the leadership conference? Then visit our online resource to learn more about leadership. Student Life has partnered with CPCC Library Services to provide an online guide for students to access CPCC Library materials and external resources related to leadership, including books, videos, and websites. Other Leadership Opportunities:

Career & College Readiness also supports leadership experiences for students in their programs (GED, ESL, Pathways, etc.).
