Computer Repair Workshop (“Fix the Box”)

Did you play with Lego’s or love taking things apart as a kid? Have you always wanted to know a little bit more about how your computer works and what is inside? This FREE workshop is for YOU!

This workshop offers students a chance to learn how to fix their own desktop or laptop computer, configure their home wireless router and install Windows / Linux operating systems. It is geared towards students with little or no experience and for those who want to learn more about how to repair or upgrade their computer. Students will get a sneak peek into the computer science field. All of the sessions will be “hands-on” and students will have a chance to peek inside and learn the basics of computer hardware and software. Each workshop will focus on specific core fundamentals, which will allow students to confidently fix or upgrade their own computer. If you have an interest in computers then this FREE workshop is for you!

This workshop is a research project implemented by STARS @ CPCC to measure if students can learn computer hardware and software basics from their peers in a student-based atmosphere.
