Library collects 300 lbs. of food for charity during amnesty month
The CPCC Libraries would like to thank all who participated in the “Food for Fines” Amnesty month campaign during the month of April. The purpose of amnesty was two-fold: 1) to give students an opportunity to return overdue items without any questions being asked and 2) to help recover library materials. Outstanding fines were waived if overdue items were returned along with a canned good or other non–perishable food item contribution for the local food bank.
How did we do?
• 266 overdue items were returned!
• $750 in library fines were waived!
• Approximately 300lbs of food and non-food essentials were collected (filled two 3 feet barrels)!
Collected items were donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina to help feed families in need throughout Mecklenburg County.
Your support in helping make our “Food for Fines” campaign a success and for helping those in need is appreciated! We value and look forward to your continued patronage.
