Service-Projects that you can get involved in

Service-Learning Center Events

Alternative Spring Break- (In the spring) This program is sponsored by the Service-Learning Center and the Service Club. Students in the past have participated in a week-long service trip with a focus on hunger/homelessness in Atlanta, GA or environmental issues in Charleston, SC. Projects in Charlotte are also offered during the week.

MLK Challenge- (January) This event is a full day of service to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. CPCC students work in groups to tackle service projects that are posed as “challenges.” With limited resources and funds, students must work together and rely on problem-solving skills to complete their assigned tasks.

Service-in Action! and the Service Speaker Series- Service in Action! is a series of service events coordinated by the Service-Learning Center in conjunction with community partners. The Service Speakers series is an opportunity for the CPCC community to hear experts from local non-profit agencies talk about their agency’s work. Individuals can learn about issues facing our community and the answers that non-profit organizations are implementing. Let us know if you would like to come and speak to a class as part of our Service Speaker Series and then plan a Service in Action! event as a follow up activity.

Volunteer Fair- The Volunteer Fair is an ideal opportunity for representatives from your organization to meet with prospective student, faculty, and staff volunteers and showcase the services that you provide to our community. The Volunteer Fair is held twice a year once in the beginning of the fall semester and once in the beginning of the spring semester. Upcoming dates will be announced soon.

Service-Speaker Series- If you would like a chance to speak with our students about the wonderful things your agency is doing for the community please, let us know! Please visit the Service-Speaker Series link for more information.
