Alternative Spring Break

“I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.” Albert Schweitzer

Alternative Spring Break
(ASB) is a low-cost service trip that provides students with an opportunity to participate in meaningful service activities, learn more about community issues, and have fun. In the past, students have traveled to Charleston, Atlanta, Wilmington, and Sumter, SC. For 2010, the students will be traveling to Washington, DC for the break. If interested in attending, please see Cassie Moore in OC 241D.

Local ASB- Don’t worry if you can't leave town over Spring Break--we do have some alternatives for you! Local ASB service dates are as follows:

This organization greatly relies upon the energy and commitment of members of the community. Spend one afternoon sorting, inspecting, boxing and stocking food for the agencies. Description: Friendship Trays generally delivers more than 600 meals daily to elderly, handicapped, and convalescing people who are unable or greatly restricted in their ability to prepare or secure meals and who reside within the area we can reach with our corps of drivers. Volunteers that help in the kitchen will help to tray and package the food. There are two parts to the meal packaging so there will be a brief break around 9:15 am with an orientation. We provide the hairnets, aprons and gloves.
