Who we are and what we do

Basically, we are CPCC employees from all walks of life who LOVE working for Central Piedmont but who get bogged down just like the next. The difference? We tap into the Spirit of CPCC to keep us going. And not only to keep us going, but to keep us positive, energized and focused on the BEST part about being at CPCC - our Mission. We are the committee designed to recognize inspiration in the unlikliest places and circumstances. We are your cheerleaders. We are your support group. We are your family.

The Spirit Committee began as an initiative in the fall of 2006 under the direction of Phil Briggs, College Senate President.  Scarlett Hollingsworth was chosen as the Chair of the Committee and became a non-voting member of the Executive Committee of the College Senate.

Subsequent members were chosen to serve as a cross-representation for the area campuses and various departments.  The Spirit Committee initiative debuted at the Spring Forum with Dr. Zeiss willfully participating. Prior to the roll out of the Spirit Committee, Marketing designed a logo which was used on t-shirts, email communications and on Spirit beach balls.

Faculty and staff were extremely receptive to this initiative as it seemed to serve a need to help the college in something Dr. Zeiss has quoted we need to celebrate more at CPCC  and this initiative allowed for this to happen.

One of the functions of the Spirit committee was in the spring when we supported an initiative of the Be Well committee to hold an Employee Health and Fitness Day.  The Spirit committee organized the food and helped to volunteer for the event. The event was endorsed by Dr. Zeiss and extremely well attended.
