What You Will Learn

The Fire Protection Technology program is not currently accepting new students. Please visit the Public Safety Administration page to learn more about our specialization in Emergency and Fire Management Services.

The Central Piedmont Fire Protection Technology curriculum is designed to provide you with technical and professional knowledge to make decisions regarding fire protection for both public and private sectors. It also provides a sound foundation for continuous higher learning in fire protection, administration, and management.

Coursework includes classroom and laboratory exercises to introduce you to various aspects of fire protection. You will learn technical and administrative skills such as hydraulics, hazardous materials, arson investigation, fire protection safety, fire suppression management, law, and code. Additionally, you are required to take a humanities or fine arts elective. Each fire protection technology course has laid out specific learning outcomes (PDF document).
